Art and Design Vocational Skills Day at CSN
On Wednesday the 13th of November, CSN will open its doors to all those that are interested in art and design as well as art and design related areas.
It is an invitation to local arts practitioners, art centre teachers and students, secondary school art teachers, Transition Year and 6 year students as well as to mature learners interested in art and design to explore art and design specific skills and to get to know the art department at CSN.
The Art and Design Vocational Skills Day program includes an exhibition of work by staff members, presentations, seminars and workshops.
While all are welcome to attend the presentations and seminars, the participation at the workshops is limited to a specific number of students and prior booking is advisable (mail to Stefanie.Dinkelbach@csn.ie for booking).

An experimental introduction to screen print adapting a technique traditionally used in textile printing. Participants will create a unique image using dyes and plenty of colour. 8 max. Prior booking encouraged; (email Stefanie.Dinkelbach@csn.ie for booking). Room 109
3D Modelling with John Halpin, 1-2pm

Colour and making by laser with Fergus Somers, 2-3pm
This workshop, which will take part in the Furniture Design Department, will introduce techniques for cutting and engraving by laser, using dyes and stains to personalise your work. Collage Workshop with Lucy Phelan
Animation seminar and workshop with Stefanie Dinkelbach, 3-5pm
The seminar and workshop in animation will start with an introduction to the principles of the moving image and the beginning of filmmaking followed by a workshop in scratching and drawing on film. Participants will work directly onto 16mm film and will be able to view their artwork using 16 mm film editing equipment. No prior experience needed.
